Design Services
Our design team is lead by professional engineers to ensure the products that are to come out of it are functional, reliable, cost-effective, and with good aesthetic value. As our services cover a pretty broad base of products, we would recommend different approaches in the design stage to our clients basing on nature of the product.
Design Approaches
The importance of taking the right approach to design can hardly be overstated. The proper approach can get a product into the market in the shortest time frame with minimum cost and with the best results. AETIKS has a strong and accurate feel for what approach should be adopted for different products based on good experience in various disciplines, and exposure to big varieties of factories. After viewing the preliminary data from client, we will recommend the approach we think best under the circumstances, and quote accordingly. Following are common approaches we've been adopting:
- 2D drawings - suitable for simple constructions. Traditional workshops with no computer hardware and software will find this easier to work with. Hard copies of the drawing will suffice it to carry the work. Such workshops usually can offer more competitive prices. It goes without saying that their capabilities are limited
- 3D drawings - suitable for more complex products. This is the best option, as it offers several extremely significant advantages:
- clients can view the 3D images, with the possibility to rotate it around in the computer screen, as contrary to 2D drawings that the reader has to have drawing reading skills to understand
- after approval, the 3D file can be used to generate a prototype, if client should prefer to have something solid to view/improve/debug
- the same 3D file can be used with Computed Aided Manufacturing (CAM) equipment to produce the plastic injection molding, or compression molding tools etc, with practically no chance for the drawing to be misread
- photo-realistic pictures can be rendered as soon as the design is finished to provide for sales promotion materials, package artwork designs etc
- Functional prototypes - some clients would need functional prototypes for preliminary field tests and ergonomic improvements etc. This category of products is usually relatively simple in construction. We would start with a prototype, and only proceed to make the 2D or 3D drawings after the design is approved. Drawings are needed for production, QC specifications, filing record etc.
- Aesthetic prototypes - this category generally applies to products of artistic nature, like comic figures, display articles, handicrafts items etc. Presentation can take the form of artwork sketches, clay models, plasticine models etc. Models are usually scale-down ones for larger display units
